What we collect, and when

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, plus the standard analytics described further down.

Information you submit

When you send an enquiry through a form on this site, we collect the fields on that form: your name, phone number, email address, the service you selected, optionally your city, and anything you write in the message box. Where a form relates to the roof estimator, the property address you entered is included so that we can identify the roof being discussed.

We use that information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry, arrange and carry out an inspection, prepare a quote, and if you go ahead, to deliver the work and the warranty that follows it. We do not add you to a marketing list on the strength of an enquiry.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, this one records standard technical information through analytics: pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and how you moved through the site. That information is used to understand which pages are useful and which are not.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site. Each is a processor acting on our behalf, and each has its own privacy practices that apply in addition to this policy.

• Web3Forms processes form submissions. When you press submit, the contents of the form pass through Web3Forms' service, which delivers them to us by email. They act as a processor for that delivery and we do not use them for marketing.
• Google Analytics 4 provides the site analytics described above. It sets cookies or equivalent identifiers in your browser. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on, or by blocking the script in your browser or with an extension; nothing on this site stops working if you do.
• Google Maps Platform and satellite imagery power the roof estimator. When you enter an address, it is sent to Google's services to resolve the location and return aerial imagery, from which the roof is measured. Using the estimator therefore means the address is processed by Google as well as by us.
• Our web host and email provider necessarily handle the traffic and the messages in the ordinary course of delivering them.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, to anyone, for any purpose. We do not share enquiry details with unrelated companies, and we do not pass your information to other trades unless you have asked us to arrange something specific and have agreed to that in the conversation.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Canada, principally in the United States, which means information may be stored or processed there and be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. If that is a concern, call us instead of using the form — a phone call to (236) 477-6888 involves none of the services above.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept only as long as they are useful for following up, and are then deleted. Records relating to work we have actually carried out — the quote, the scope, the job photographs and the warranty — are kept for the life of the warranty and a reasonable period afterwards, because a warranty claim years later depends on that file still existing. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.

Security

Form submissions are transmitted over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiry email and job records is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise. Please do not send financial account details, identification numbers or other sensitive information through a web form; there is no reason for us to ask for any of it.

Your rights: access, correction and deletion

Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, and ask us to delete it. You may also withdraw consent to further contact at any time, subject to any legal or contractual obligations we still have — we cannot, for example, delete the record of a job that is still under warranty and then honour a claim on it.

To make any of those requests, call (236) 477-6888 or use the contact form and say what you want done. We will confirm your identity before acting on a request, respond within the timeframe PIPEDA requires, and tell you in writing what we did. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you may raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for matters falling under provincial law, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Cookies

This site uses cookies and similar identifiers for analytics, as described above. It does not run advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time; the pages and the estimator will still work.

Children

This site is intended for people arranging roofing work on a property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version is posted here with a new date at the top. Material changes to how we handle information already collected will not be applied retroactively without consent.
